Mother’s Day Flower Project:

IMG_1419

Update:  We are no longer holding the Mother’s Day Flower Project, as participation had dwindled.  We encourage anyone to continue on your own at your individual cemeteries.

Each year, on the Saturday before Mother’s Day, we meet in the parking lot of Liberty Family Practice to distribute carnations for our members to deliver to local cemeteries.  We try to place flowers on the graves of as many babies as possible, in time for their parents to find on Mother’s Day.

October Memorial Service:

Update:  All meetings are now virtual via Zoom due to the pandemic.  We will continue to hold a virtual  memorial service on the second Tuesday in October at 7:30 pm.  Anyone is encouraged to attend and speak about their babies or read a poem.  We will light out Empty Arms candles and will have battery candles to ‘light’ for all attendees.  You can also bring a candle of your own to light in your own home.  Meeting link will be posted on the web page and on the private Facebook group page.  In honor of Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month, our annual memorial service takes the place of our regular meeting in October.  We no longer meet at the St. Vincent chapel, but host the memorial service at our regular meeting location at Liberty Family Practice.  All members are welcome to do a reading or speak about their babies. Reception following with plenty of snacks.

December Ornament Meeting:

Update:  Our ornament mailing continues, though in person meetings are a thing of the past.  Please email me at angela@mapsofmastery if you are a new member who would like to be added to our mailing list, or if your address has changed.  At our December meeting, we will distribute our annual memorial ornament.  Holiday treats to share are welcome.

  1. Hey Empty Arms it’s Chris Brown Parker (Christy Parker on FB) one of the founding members and past president of this wonderful group. I just saw on TV that you will be on WICU News on 10/30/18. That is wonderful. So proud to have been a part of this group from the beginning. This group has done amazing things and continues to do so. I have referred many people to you. Even though I am no longer active in the group you hold a special place in my heart. Would love to hear from you. Continued prayers for all those angels, parents, and families/friends that you help. 💜

    • Hi, Chris! Thanks so much for commenting. The news story is actually about a group of ladies in Crawford County who are making baby gowns. Empty Arms is still meeting monthly, and we work with Karen at Small Things Angel Baby Gowns to keep the hospitals supplied with gowns. We’re thrilled to know there is a new group doing the same thing, and encourage anyone to contact them if they have a gown to donate. Karen is very well supplied for the foreseeable future!

  2. We have since left Erie, but we would like to make a monetary donation to continue to support your work. To whom do I make the check out to and to where do I send the donation? Thank you for all of the work you do. We remember your support fondly. Thank you. Deb & Ken Simkowski

    • Thank you, Deborah and Kenneth! You can make checks out to Empty Arms or to Angela West. Our mailing address is 10160 Loomis Lane, Lake City, PA 16423. At this point, all donations are going toward postage and sometimes materials for our December holiday ornament mailing. You can also just send stamps; we received enough generous stamp donations this year that we’re all set for the year!
